New Year's Eve appetizers to try at your next party
December 16, 2016 New Year's Eve is a time for friends, family, parties, and great food. The best New Year's Eve party will have just a spread of appetizers to enjoy and for people to graze on, rather than a sit-down meal. We've prepared a quick guide to all of the best New Year's Eve appetizers for all of your party guests. No party is complete without good holiday treats, so here are a few treats for you to whip up.Shrimp Dip
Everyone loves some shrimp, so how about throwing it in a dip for a real crowd pleaser. Simply layer cream cheese in the bottom of a pie dish, then top with a jar of cocktail sauce and a can or two, depending on your preference, of mini shrimp. Serve with Ritz crackers for dipping, but don't expect this New Year's Eve appetizer to last very long. This is a holiday treat that will disappear in seconds.
Slow Cooker Bourbon Smokies
Ingredients
2 lb. cocktail wieners
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. ketchup
½ c. bourbon
1/3 c. finely chopped shallot
3 cloves garlic
Directions
Combine cocktail wieners, brown sugar, ketchup, bourbon, shallot, and garlic. Stir to combine. Cook on high until the bourbon smell has cooked off, about 6 hours. Serve with toothpicks. It's a great spin on a favorite New Year's Eve appetizer.
Caprese Bites
This holiday treat is one that is a favorite at many parties.
Ingredients
8 oz. mozzarella balls
2 tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil
1 tsp. Italian seasoning
¼ tsp. crushed red pepper flakes
kosher salt
24 cherry tomatoes
12 fresh basil leaves
1 c. balsamic vinegar
Directions
In a small bowl combine mozzarella, olive oil, Italian seasoning, crushed red pepper flakes, and season with salt. Assemble the skewers by layering a cherry tomato, basicl leaf, marinated mozzarella ball, and another cherry tomato. Place on your serving platter. Make the balsamic glaze by bringing balsamic vinegar to a low simmer and let it thicken until syrupy for about 15 minutes. Set it aside to cool and thicken, then drizzle over skewers.
Frozen Cheesecake on a Stick
No New Year's Eve appetizer spread is complete with some sweet holiday treats.
Ingredients
1 store-bought plain cheesecake
1 c. semisweet chocolate chips
2 tbsp. coconut oil
½ c. rainbow sprinkles
Directions
Slice the cheesecake into triangles and insert a popsicle stick into them. Transfer them to a parchment-line baking sheet and freeze for 20 minutes. Meanwhile, bring a saucepan of water to a simmer and add a glass bowl and add chocolate. Stir until melted, then stir in coconut oil. Remove from burner and let cool to room temperature. Dip each cheesecake triangle halfway into chocolate and add sprinkles immediately. Let sit for five minutes until magic shell chocolate hardens.
