Holiday cocktails to help you get through the holiday season
December 16, 2016 The holidays are full of joy and cheer, not to mention presents, good food, holiday treats, family, friends, and likely lots of alcohol. Surviving the holidays can be a difficult task for some, while others just enjoy a nice glass of wine or an ice cold beer at dinner to help celebrate. So if you're going to celebrate during the holidays, why not celebrate in style? Here are some holiday cocktail ideas for your holiday celebrations this year. Remember to always celebrate responsibly.Pumpkin Pie Martini
Pumpkin pie is a staple from November through December for any major holiday feast. So why not recreate it in drink form for your adult guests? Mix up some vanilla vodka, pumpkin spice liqueur, Kahlua, butterscotch schnapps, and half-and-half and distribute between martini glasses with a crushed graham cracker rim. Cheers!
Cocoa Raspberry Heaven
Everybody loves a good glass of hot chocolate, so give it an adult twist with this holiday cocktail recipe. Mix raspberry liqueur and cr¨me de cacao with hot chocolate and pour into glasses. Top them with whipped cream and a fresh raspberry. It's the adult version of a favorite holiday treat.
Spiked Apple Cider Cocktail
Apple cider is the other beloved holiday flavor, along with pumpkin spice. This holiday cocktail is good from November through the New Year. Simply add brandy to sweet apple cider and serve chilled. You can even garnish with apple slices if you want to be fancy with your holiday treats.
Hot Peppermint Rod
Peppermint is to winter and Christmas what pumpkin spice is to fall and Thanksgiving. Enjoy this delicious Hot Peppermint Rod drink this holiday season by mixing hot water and vodka. Top it off with whipped cream and a peppermint stick to give it a peppermint flavor. It's as simple as that.
Hot Buttered Rum
It sounds strange, but it's a holiday tradition. Hot Buttered Rum is a traditional holiday cocktail that is sure to please. Heat brown sugar, hot milk, and dark rum together and pour into a glass. Top each glass with some butter and allow it to melt. Garnish with a pinch of nutmeg. It's a rich, decadent holiday treat that is sure to warm you up no matter the temperature outside.
Peach Sparkler
This holiday cocktail would be perfect for New Year's Eve toasts. Combine cognac, peach schnapps, simple syrup, and crushed fresh peaches, lemon, and orange and pour over crushed ice. Garnish with a mint sprig and a peach slice for a unique toaster.
The holidays are a great time to try some new drinks and the flavors throughout the season are delicious, so have a cocktail party and taste test some different flavors. Not up for hosting?
